Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to the most common questions. Still stuck? Open Get help at the bottom of any page.

Video won't play / black screen / endless loading
Let's get it playing. Start here: 1. Click the server button on the player (it shows the current server, e.g. "Server 1") and pick a different one. Each title is offered on several servers (Server 1 to 7), and usually at least one works. 2. Reload the page and press Play again. 3. Tell me which server and browser you're using if it still fails.
Ad blockers, extensions and pop-ups
XSPlay itself doesn't show ads, but the video servers behind the player are third-party, and some of them load ads and trackers. Two things follow: - A strict blocker can break the player (black screen, endless loading, "refused to connect"). Fix: switch the blocker off for this site (uBlock Origin: click the power icon; AdGuard: pause protection for the site; Brave: turn Shields down for the site), then reload. Or keep the blocker on and try another server (Server 1 to 7). - A server may open a pop-up or new tab. Close it. Never install anything it asks for or enter personal details there.
Lag, buffering, no sound, subtitles, quality
For lag, stutter or low quality: 1. Switch server with the server button on the player. Quality and speed differ a lot between servers. 2. Pause for a few seconds so it can buffer, and close other heavy tabs or downloads. 3. Use the player's own gear/quality menu to pick a lower resolution if your connection is slow. For sound: check the player and tab aren't muted and the system volume is up, then try another server (audio tracks differ). Subtitles and fullscreen are controlled from the player's own menu (CC and the fullscreen icon), and what's available depends on the server.
Creating an account
Creating a free account takes under a minute: 1. Click "Sign In / Register" at the bottom of the sidebar (on a phone: the account icon in the bottom bar). 2. Switch to the Register tab and choose a username and a password. An email is optional. 3. Keep "Remember me" ticked if you want to stay signed in. A free account removes the 40-minute guest limit and saves your watchlist, history and progress to the cloud.
Registration errors (username taken, email linked, unavailable)
Those registration messages mean: - "Username is already taken": someone has that username. Pick another one (usernames aren't case-sensitive, so "Anna" and "anna" are the same). - "This email address is already linked to an existing account": you (or someone) already registered with that email. Use Sign In with that email and your password, or register without an email. - "Registration is temporarily unavailable": the database was still connecting. Wait 20 to 30 seconds and try again. - "Too many requests": too many tries from your network in a minute. Wait a minute and try again.
Can't sign in / wrong password
If sign-in fails with "Invalid username or email, or incorrect password": 1. You can sign in with your username or your email. Try the other one. 2. Your username isn't case-sensitive, but your password is. Check Caps Lock and any extra space. 3. If your browser or a password manager auto-filled something, retype both fields by hand. 4. Make sure you're not signing in with an account you only used on a different site. Important: there's no self-service password reset yet, so I can't send you a reset link.
Forgot password / reset / delete account
Honest answer: XSPlay doesn't have a self-service password reset, password change, or account deletion yet, so I can't do those for you here. What can help right now: - Check your browser's saved passwords or your password manager. - You can sign in with your username or your email, so try both. - If you're still signed in on another device, stay there. These features are on the way. If you've tried everything, I'll offer to pass this on to the team.
Keeps logging me out / sign-in not remembered
How staying signed in works: - Tick "Remember me" when you sign in: you stay signed in for up to a year on that browser. Without it, the sign-in lasts about a day. - You'll be signed out if the browser clears site data or cookies (private windows, "clear on exit" settings, cleaner extensions or apps), or if you sign in on a different browser or device. Fix: sign in again with "Remember me" ticked, use a normal (non-private) window, and make sure XSPlay isn't in your browser's clear-on-exit list.
40-minute guest limit / asked to register
Visitors without an account can stream for 40 minutes in total per browser. After that XSPlay asks you to create an account to continue. A free account removes the limit completely and also saves your watchlist, history and progress. Registering takes under a minute: "Sign In / Register" at the bottom of the sidebar. It's free, and you don't need an email.
Watchlist, My Library and saving
Your watchlist works like this: - Press Save on a movie or series page. You need to be signed in (otherwise the button says "Sign in to save"). - Saved titles show as posters in the sidebar, and My Library has your history. - Everything syncs to your account in the cloud, so it follows you to any device when you sign in. If your list looks empty: make sure you're signed in to the same account, reload the page, and give it a few seconds to sync.
Continue watching, history, watched marks
Continue Watching, history and watched marks need an account. Two things to know: - Most video servers can't report your playback position to XSPlay, so progress isn't recorded automatically for them (the player shows "no tracking"). Use the Mark Watched button on the page to track it yourself. The Anime Server tracks progress. - Check Settings > Library & Privacy: "Record watch history" must be on.
Movies/posters not showing, search problems
If movies, posters or search results aren't showing: 1. Reload the page (Ctrl+F5 / pull to refresh). If you see a red banner about the movie data connection, that's a problem on our side: it fixes itself once we've renewed it, so try again a bit later. 2. Try the Discover (search) page and search by the exact title. New releases and very obscure titles may not be listed yet. 3. Content blockers can stop posters and lists from loading: pause the blocker for this site and reload. 4. Check your connection and any VPN.
Restricted or Unreleased lock on a title
Two different locks: - "Restricted": the title is above the age rating set in your Settings. Open Settings > Age Rating & Parental Controls and set the maximum allowed age higher (or "No restriction"), then reload. - "Unreleased": the movie hasn't been released yet, so there's nothing to stream. It becomes playable once it's out.
Series, seasons and episodes
For series: pick the season from the season selector on the series page, then click an episode to play it. The server button works per episode too, so if one episode won't play, switch server for that episode. Autoplay of the next episode and the countdown are in Settings > Autoplay Next Episode. If a season or episode is missing, it may not be in the movie database yet (new or very old seasons sometimes aren't).
Anime
Anime plays on the "Anime Server" (the player switches to it automatically for anime). Use the Sub/Dub toggle on the player. If it says the title was not found, switch to another server. Skipping openings and endings is set in Settings > Anime Intro Skip.
Live sports
The Sports section currently covers soccer (Champions League, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Super Lig, MLS, Ligue 1). Pick a league on the left, then a match to see its broadcast options. Basketball, MMA, motorsport, tennis and cricket show as LOCKED and aren't available yet. Live matches only stream while they're on; before kick-off you'll see them under Upcoming.
VIP, plans and payments
Everyone is on the Free Member plan right now, and it includes all features. VIP plans (including VIP+ with sports) are planned but not available yet, and no payments are being taken, so there's nothing to buy. Be wary of anyone offering XSPlay VIP for money.
Downloading movies
Downloading only works in the XSPlay desktop app, not on the website (the Download button on a title page explains this). On the website you can watch online only.
Settings and appearance
Open Settings in the sidebar. You can change the theme and accent colour, font size, compact grid, reduced animations, controller support, the home page layout and start page, the metadata language (titles and descriptions), parental controls and autoplay. Press the Save button in each card to apply a change.
Using XSPlay on a phone or tablet
On phones and tablets XSPlay shows a bottom bar for navigation. For the best player experience, rotate to landscape and use the player's fullscreen button. If the video doesn't start on iPhone/iPad, switch server and make sure content blockers (Safari) and private relay/VPN aren't blocking the video servers.
Mobile app / app store / desktop app
XSPlay is a website: open it in the browser on your phone, tablet or computer, no install needed (you can add it to your home screen from your browser's menu). I'm not aware of an App Store or Google Play app. A desktop app exists for downloads, but it isn't something you need to watch here.
"Too many requests"
"Too many requests. Please wait a moment" means your network sent a lot of requests in a short time (shared Wi-Fi and VPNs count together). Wait about a minute, reload, and it works again.
Suspicious pop-ups, downloads, security
Stay safe: XSPlay never asks you to install anything or to enter card details to watch. The video servers are third-party, and some show ads or pop-ups. Close any pop-up or new tab, don't download or install what it offers, and never type your XSPlay password anywhere except the XSPlay Sign In window. If you entered it elsewhere, change it and tell me.
Reporting a broken or missing title
To pin down a broken title: tell me the title (and season/episode for a series), which servers you tried, and what you see (black screen, error text, wrong video). A title that fails on all servers is usually just not available yet. Try again later. There's no request form yet.
